Holy moly! We have finally made it. Welcome to the new website, and in turn, the new blog. This has been quite a long time coming, and I am so happy to finally get to share it with you all.
Holy moly! We have finally made it. Welcome to the new website, and in turn, the new blog. This has been quite a long time coming, and I am so happy to finally get to share it with you all. Over the years Squeaks Game World has taken on many ventures in the form of content creation. Whether it was Team Win and In, SqueaksGWE, Patreon, writing for 60 Cards, TCG Insider (oh yeah, who remembers this), the Youtube channel, or our many other forms of social media, I (Shaun) always strove to bringing you the best, most up-to-date, content on Pokemon and the hobby industry as a whole.
Unfortunately, all of those mediums (besides Youtube which I still do from time to time) never survived. A large majority of that responsibility falls on me. Trying to micromanage and grow so many different platforms, each with their own audience, is an incredibly daunting task. One of the largest issues for me was that none of the platforms integrated well together. I found I was constantly trying to expand my reach to many of the same people in different areas, often times to no avail. Facebook is somewhere I’ve never struggled to grow and expand my content, but beyond that...it has been an uphill climb. In 2017 I made a few changes to Squeaks Game World that would hopefully allow me to manage the business side of the store, while also managing the content creation. Together, they’d help one another flourish. Due to some issues outside of my control (one of the few things I don’t put fault on myself for), this never came to fruition.
To say that I was discouraged, depressed, angry, would be a massive understatement. All I’ve wanted to do was be able to provide the content I love making, via a hub that had it all, while still being able to maintain some semblance of a normal life. Micromanaging 5-6 platforms was never going to allow that. Finally...nearing the end of 2019 as I write this (you might not see it until 2020), we are there. I’m almost tearing up because I know that I’ve finally got there, or at least I hope I have. This website is what I’ve wanted for the business for so long.
So why should you care? Why is this not just another pet project that you don’t expect to be around 6 months from now? Honestly, because this is it for me. This is the last attempt, so I have to make it my best one yet. Either we are going to ride this one to the top, or I’m going to call it for good on this industry.
One night as my wife and I were playing video games I turned to her and said, “You know, I think this new website, the blog, the content creation, I think this is going to be my last whack at it. I’ve given everything I had to this. I want to keep giving, but I can’t continue to burnout and let people down again and again. This either works, or I leave the industry and open up this spot for someone else to take over the role I’ve tried to fill.”
This website has everything I had hoped would be within one of the other four that I’ve owned. All the features are there not just for my ease of access, but for your pleasure as well.
- The full store inventory. Uploaded and updated all the time. No more having to message me to see if I have things in stock because the website is never updated.
- The back end management that you’ve come to know, love, and trust within the industry. No more worrying that things show in stock when they aren’t.
- A buylist. Yes, that’s right. An active, evolving, and monitored buylist. Finally you can easily trade in your cards to get other cards, games, or merchandise we carry. This might not be live at launch as I want to make sure it is perfect, but the integration and buildout is already there, meaning it will happen. It is just a matter of getting the data plugged in.
- Merchandise. That’s right. For the longest time I’ve carried things like PSA cards, Legos, Video Games, and so much more, but you never would have known. These items won’t only be on the website, but also integrated with other 3rd party platforms, so you can order from us wherever, whenever you like.
- Updated feeds of all of our social media content. Whether you follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, Twitch, or anywhere else, you’ll be able to get ALL of our content and so much more right here on this page, including...our new blog.
- The most important part of this whole website, the blog. This will be the hub where you’ll find everything that I (and maybe others) will write in the future. In the next blog post I’ll describe another massive endeavor I’ve been working on behind the scenes for you that will show you just how dedicated I am to making this the best platform to learn about and engage with the financial side of the hobby industry.
- So many more features. Some of the most common and underappreciated features of websites go overlooked until a website doesn’t have them. Rest assured I’ve worked with industry leaders to make sure we modeled the navigation, display, and functionality of the website off of what industry leading data shows consumers ACTUALLY want, not just what the big dogs do. So take a spin and start clicking around the website.
So here we are. This is either the last frontier, or a new beginning. Regardless, I’m laying down the gauntlet and giving it my all. I will strive to bring you all not just content, but VALUABLE content. The types of work that you’ll want to share with your friends; that you’ll want to engage with and discuss. I will strive to bring you the products you want, at the best prices I can possibly offer, with the best customer service in the industry. So buckle up, because this is going to be one heck of a ride. Thank you all for your continued support over the last 5 years. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
